Police have arrested three more persons in connection with seizure of methamphetamine worth ₹1.50 crore in Ramanathapuram.Last week, Ramanathapuram Bazaar police arrested three people in Ramanathapuram who were in possession of 9 grams of methamphetamine drugs.Inquiries conducted with them revealed that methamphetamine was being sold from Ilaiyangudi in the Sivaganga district. Subsequently, a special police team conducted intensive investigations, revealing that a methamphetamine manufacturing lab had been set up inside a lathe workshop in Ilaiyangudi, where three to five kg of methamphetamine was produced per month and sold through brokers.Following this, six people from Ilaiyangudi and Chennai were arrested. From them, 1.50 kg of methamphetamine worth ₹1.50 crore was seized.Further, banned chemical raw materials and equipment were seized from the methamphetamine manufacturing lab, and the facility was sealed.Consequently, the special police team began an investigation of who taught them how to manufacture methamphetamine.Meanwhile, on Monday, Ashraf, 35, from the Anaicut area of Katpadi in Vellore district, was arrested. 30 grams of methamphetamine were seized from him.Additionally, on Tuesday, Shahinsha, 30, from Tondiarpet in Chennai and Oomakka alias Mohammed Zakir, 56, from Ilaiyangudi were arrested. 70 grams of methamphetamine were seized from them.Search is still under way to nab several others who are in connection with the case, said police sources.
