Bergerac has been confirmed for series three with a star-studded cast joining the line-up15:17, 04 Aug 2026Crime thriller fans will be delighted as a hit detective series has confirmed its return.‌Filmed on location in Jersey, Bergerac, which boasts an impressive 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for series one, launched its second season back in April with the series finale airing earlier this year.‌The programme offers a contemporary reimagining of the iconic Jersey-based crime drama, following troubled detective Jim Bergerac, portrayed by Brassic star Damien Molony.‌The original Bergerac television series broadcast during the 1980s, featuring John Nettles as the fictional detective Jim Bergerac. It received a reboot in 2025, with 42-year-old Damien taking on the leading role.And now, series three has been confirmed with a Doctor Who favourite and Only Fools and Horses legend joining the cast. The six‑part U&Original series is expected to be released in 2027.‌As well as Damien, series three will also see Zoë Wanamaker return as Bergerac's formidable mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford and Robert Gilbert as police officer Barney Crozier. Other returning stars will include Sasha Behar as Uma Dalal, Celine Arden as Kara Molloy and Luke Nunn as Simon Calvert.Joining series three is the likes of Black Mirror star Jason Flemyng as Alistair, Only Fools and Horses legend Tessa Peake Jones as Carol, The Long Shadow's Lee Ingleby as Dominic and Doctor Who favourite Georgia Tennant as Laura.Other guest stars include Slow Horses' Sean Gilder as Les, Grace's Alexander Cobb as Jake, Andor's Sule Rimi as Jonathan, Believe Me's Matti Houghton as Catherine, Transformers' Liam Garrigan as Patrick, The One That Got Away's Elen Rhys as Esme, and Gangs of London's Sebastian Armesto as Edward.‌A synopsis for series three teases: "Bergerac embarks upon his most shocking case yet, when his only significant lead in a suspicious death is a DNA match to Jersey's most notorious unsolved case - the Devil's Hole murder."To solve the case in the present, Bergerac must dig deep into the past as he uncovers evidence of a satanic cabal that goes right to the heart of Jersey society.‌"Meanwhile, with daughter Kim away at college, could Jim have finally met his perfect match when he meets down-to-earth physiotherapist, Laura (Tennant), whilst Charlie's life falls apart when she confronts a home intruder with devastating consequences."Helen Perry, head of drama commissioning at UKTV said: "Bergerac has become a firm favourite with our audiences, so we're thrilled to recommission it for a third series.
