The cadre of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) staged road roko in multiple places in Salem and Namakkal districts against the arrest of Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday.On Tuesday, Mr. Udhayanidhi was arrested in Chennai over alleged misogynist remarks complaint by the Thanjavur district police. Following the arrest, DMK cadre led by former Minister R. Rajendran gathered in front of the DMK district office on Omalur Main Road in Salem New Bus Stand and staged a road roko. They raised slogans against the ruling TVK government and the police. The police asked the DMK cadre to disperse from the spot, but they continued their protest. Following this, the police arrested more than 300 DMK cadre, including Mr. Rajendran and lodged them in a marriage hall.Likewise, near the Edappadi bus stand, more than 100 DMK cadre gathered and raised slogans against the police and later staged a road roko. The Edappadi police rushed to the spot and arrested them. At Ariyanoor on the Salem-Coimbatore national highway, DMK cadre staged a road roko and were arrested by the police.At Tiruchengode in Namakkal district, DMK cadre led by its district secretary K.S. Moorthy staged a demonstration near the Kamarajar statue against the arrest of Mr. Udhayanidhi. More than 100 cadre participated in the demonstration, which affected the traffic movement in Tiruchengode bus stand locality. The Tiruchengode Town police arrested them.
