Benin Electric Distribution Company has confirmed that one of its technical staff members sustained injuries following an electrical incident while carrying out maintenance work on an 11kV feeder in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The company’s Head of Branding and Corporate Communications, Mrs Evelyn Gbiwen, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Benin.

She said the incident occurred at about 6:20 p.m. on Saturday in the Ado-Poly Satellite Campus area of Ado-Ekiti.

According to the statement, the injured employee, Mr Akinyemi Bamidele, a technical linesman, sustained burns to his arm and other parts of his body after receiving an electric shock while carrying out an operational task on the 11kV Basiri Feeder following scheduled maintenance work.

She said Bamidele was immediately taken to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, where he is receiving treatment.
