The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company Plc has commenced repairs on the damaged C2 Maitama Substation following the resolution of issues arising from the invasion and encroachment on the facility.

The company disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying its technical teams had been deployed to the site to begin the repair, reinstatement and restoration of damaged electricity infrastructure.

The outage affected Maitama and neighbouring communities after vital cables and other infrastructure at the substation were damaged during the incident, disrupting power supply to homes, businesses, diplomatic missions and government institutions.

AEDC said the breakthrough followed sustained engagements and the intervention of key stakeholders.

“The Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc is pleased to inform our valued customers in Maitama and surrounding areas that, following sustained engagements and the intervention of key stakeholders, the issues arising from the invasion and encroachment on the C2 Maitama Substation have now been resolved,” the statement read.
