MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte’s legal counsel and defense spokesperson Michael Poa on Tuesday confirmed that he was among those who met with Commission on Audit (COA) officials to request an “audit query” regarding the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) and Department of Education’s (DepEd) use of confidential funds (CF).

Poa said this after COA auditor Roderick Wamil testified during the 12th day of Duterte’s impeachment trial that he was called to a meeting in September 2023 with OVP chief of staff Zuleika Lopez, then DepEd chief of staff Poa, former COA Assistant Commissioner Nilda Plaras, and state auditor Gloria Camora.
