Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) deputy, Advocate Peter Serunye, said he repeatedly questioned the merits of the corruption case against Brigadier Dineo Mokwele and her co-accused, saying the key evidence appeared to be missing before arrests were made.
Testifying at the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday, Serunye said he raised serious concerns after reviewing the case docket on August 16 2025, saying the available evidence did not, in his view, support the corruption charges as they had been framed.
"I was not satisfied that the corruption charge was sustainable on the available evidence and current formulation of the charge sheet, and I said so in writing at the time," Serunye told the commission.
According to Serunye, his concerns extended beyond the charge sheet and included the Section 27 referral process.
