Babak Eslami Farsani, a defense attorney, has been sentenced to nine months in prison by Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. Concurrently, Reza Tayebnia, another defense lawyer, has been summoned to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Kohgiluyeh County via a subpoena to defend himself against charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
According to the HRANA news agency, Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Babak Eslami Farsani to nine months in prison on Sunday, August 2, on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
Babak Eslami Farsani had previously received a subpoena in June of this year ordering him to appear before Branch 4 of the Interrogation Unit at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of District 33 in Tehran.
He previously represented the family of Mehrshad Shahidi, a victim of the 2022 protests in Arak, a case that had also led to judicial proceedings being initiated against him at the Arak Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.
In a separate report, HRANA noted that defense attorney Reza Tayebnia received a subpoena summoning him to Branch 6 of the Assistant Prosecutor’s Office at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Kohgiluyeh County.
