Sowore Condemns Traditional Cleansing Of Ibadan Female TikToker, Kicks Against Violation Of Dignity

In a statement shared on Monday, Sowore said he had learned that the TikTok content creator underwent a traditional cleansing ritual after filming an Oloolu masquerade procession.

Fiery human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the reported traditional cleansing ritual performed on a female TikTok content creator following controversy over a video linked to the annual Oloolu Masquerade Festival in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Sowore described the incident as an abuse of the woman's dignity, arguing that no cultural, religious or traditional practice should be allowed to undermine fundamental human rights.

In a statement shared on Monday, Sowore said he had learned that the TikTok content creator underwent a traditional cleansing ritual after filming an Oloolu masquerade procession.

"I learned today that a TikToker underwent a traditional 'cleansing' ritual after filming an Oloolu masquerade procession," he said.
