SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — Six persons were rescued after a landslide triggered by heavy rains and thunderstorms blocked a road in Salcedo town, local disaster officials reported Sunday.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Salcedo said it received a report that several individuals were stranded along the Balidbid–Bulala-Leguey Road after a landslide rendered the route impassable.

According to the MDRRMO, the group encountered intense rainfall and thunderstorms while traveling through the area. The resulting landslide blocked the roadway, preventing them from continuing their journey home.

Responding personnel from the MDRRMO, together with members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Salcedo Fire Station and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Salcedo Police Station, immediately conducted a rescue operation.
