BACOLOD CITY — Over 111 metric tons of hazardous medical waste that had accumulated for over three decades in four government-run hospitals in Negros Occidental were removed and transported to a Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-accredited treatment facility between June and August this year, provincial officials said.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the move was part of the province’s continuing hospital cleanup program.
The operation was carried out by pollution control officers under the Provincial Administrator’s Office.
