Apple TV‘s Emmy-nominated leading ladies came together on Sunday for a chat about their recognized performances and shows, in partnership with The Hollywood Reporter.
THR x Apple TV’s Leading the Narrative: The Women of Apple TV event took over Spago Beverly Hills for a conversation among Margo’s Got Money Troubles stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Elle Fanning, Pluribus‘ Rhea Seehorn and Karolina Wydra, Shrinking actress Jessica Williams and Widow’s Bay scene-stealer Dale Dickey, moderated by Shrinking writer-producer Ashley Nicole Black.
Black kicked off the panel — in front of a room full of influencers and tastemakers — by emphasizing, “I can’t believe all of these performances happened in the same season; I remember being a young woman where you would get one really cool female character per season. To get all of these iconic performances in one is just like, my mind is blown.”
Margo’s Got Money Troubles, up for best comedy series along with lead and supporting noms for Fanning and Pfeiffer, centers on a college dropout who turns to OnlyFans to financially support herself and her new baby.
Fanning celebrated how it’s “a show about people who are kind of easily judged from their choices from the outside world of their occupation or the way they dress or the trauma that they’re dealing with in their life, addiction issues. I was just so moved being on the set, of just the acceptance that we had for these characters and the sensitivity that we had, and the freedom to be just completely raw and to go there and to be messy.” She added that she particularly loves doing TV because it provides “eight hours, 10 hours to really like flesh out and dive into a character and the nuance of it.”
