It’s still a budget laptop – the new Chuwi MiniBook X U300 is available now for $439. That price includes a few discounts though, so the retail price may be a little higher after a few weeks.The latest version of the MiniBook X is powered by an Intel U300 processor, which is an entry-level processor from the 13th-gen Intel “Raptor Lake” family. But this 5-core, 6-thread chip is still a big step up from the Intel N150-powered version Chuwi was selling a year ago.While the Intel N150 processor is a 6-watt chip with 4 Efficiency cores, the Intel U300 is a 15-55 watt chip with 4 Efficiency cores and a single Performance core. It also has higher-performance integrated graphics, more PCIe lanes, and support for PCIe 4.0.So while the Chuwi MiniBook X U300 ships standard with 16GB of LPDDR4x onboard memory and a 512GB PCIe 3.0 SSD, unlike earlier models, you can upgrade the storage by replacing the included M.2 2280 SSD with a faster PCIe 4.0 SSD (or a slower SATA III one if you want to prioritize price over performance).The new model also comes with better wireless capabilities: last year’s model topped out at WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2, but the new version supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.Unfortunately one thing that hasn’t changed is the laptop’s small battery: it has a 28.88 Wh lithium polymer battery that should be enough for a few hours of basic usage, but I wouldn’t expect all-day battery life.Other features include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports (for video, data, and charging), a 3.5mm audio jack, an a 2MP webcam. There’s a single fan and heat pipe inside for active cooling, and the notebook has a backlit keyboard and a small Precision touchpad. The laptop comes with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed.The Chuwi MiniBook X has an aluminum alloy chassis that measures 244 x 166.4 x 17.2mm (9.6″ x 6.6″ x 0.7″) at its thinnest point and 11mm (0.4″) at its thinnest. It weighs about 920 grams (2 pounds).
