CEBU, Philippines – Jailed activists Frenchie Mae Cumpio and Marielle Domequil, through their counsel, have filed an appeal with the Court of Appeals in Cebu City on Monday, August 3, in hopes of reversing the ruling of Tacloban City Regional Trial Court Branch 45 that convicted them of terrorism financing.

On January 22, Domequil and Cumpio were found guilty of terrorism financing based on “ex-rebel” testimonies, and were sentenced to 12 to 18 years of imprisonment. They were acquitted in their illegal possession of firearms and explosives case.
