The Johannesburg magistrate’s court has postponed the criminal case against political fixer Brown Mogotsi to August 30.
Self-proclaimed political fixer Brown Mogotsi has failed in his attempt to force prosecutors to reveal the identities of state witnesses after the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court ruled that their details should remain confidential over safety concerns.
The case was postponed to August 20 to allow the state to hand the remaining investigation docket to the defence before the matter proceeds.
The courtroom battle focused on whether Mogotsi should be granted access to the names and addresses of witnesses expected to testify against him in a case stemming from allegations that he staged an assassination attempt on himself in Vosloorus in 2025.
Mogotsi is facing multiple Schedule 5 charges, including perjury, defeating the ends of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, discharging a firearm in a public place and attempting to bribe the investigating officer.
