Fidelity advises women to stay alert by avoiding distractions such as using a cellphone while walking, sharing travel plans with trusted friends or family members, parking in well-lit areas and checking their surroundings before entering their vehicles.

As South Africa celebrates Women's Month, Fidelity Services Group is encouraging women to make personal safety part of their daily routine through greater awareness, preparation and confidence.

The security company said while communities, businesses and law enforcement all have a role to play in creating safer environments, practical safety habits remain one of the most effective ways to reduce personal risk.

Charnel Hattingh, Group Head of Marketing and Communications at Fidelity Services Group, said Women's Month is not only a celebration of women's achievements but also a reminder that every woman deserves to feel safe throughout the year.

"Women's Month is a celebration of the strength, resilience and achievements of women across South Africa. It is also an opportunity to remind women that they deserve to feel safe every day of the year. Simple, proactive habits can make a significant difference in reducing vulnerability and helping women respond confidently should they find themselves in an unsafe situation," Hattingh said.
