Police have arrested two Indian nationals in connection with the killing of a 59-year-old psychologist whose disappearance was reported last month in the southern Peloponnese, authorities said Monday.
The suspects, aged 20 and 24, were arrested Saturday in the Athens area during a coordinated police operation. They face charges including homicide, robbery and weapons offenses. Police said the two have confessed to their involvement, although such claims have not been independently verified in court.
According to investigators, the victim was attacked on the night of July 24 after driving with the suspects to an area in the municipality of Nafplio, in the Argolida region. Police allege the men fatally stabbed him with a sharp object before stealing cash, his cellphone and his car, which was later abandoned on a nearby hillside.
The man’s disappearance was reported by a relative on July 25, prompting a police investigation. His body was discovered Sunday in a rural area near Nafplio, where forensic experts examined the scene.
Police said the investigation is continuing to establish the full circumstances and motive behind the killing.
