New research suggests conservationists can identify future conflict hotspots decades before they emerge. For Kenya, where expanding farms, settlements and infrastructure increasingly intersect with elephant ranges, the findings could reshape how governments approach one of conservation's most persistent challenges.
By 2085, the areas across parts of Southern Africa where people and elephants are most likely to come into conflict could increase by as much as 100 per cent.
