Fiorentina has reached an agreement to bring João Mário to Florence on loan from Juventus, complete with a buy option that could turn the temporary move into a permanent one. The deal, struck in late July 2026, follows a familiar Serie A playbook: take the player, try him out, then decide whether to write the big check later.
For Mário, a Portuguese right-back who joined Juventus from Porto, this represents yet another attempt to find consistent playing time at a club that actually wants to use him.
The numbers behind the deal
Juventus reportedly valued Mário in the range of €12-13 million. Fiorentina came back with a package around €9 million.
The loan-with-option format bridges that valuation disconnect. Fiorentina doesn’t have to commit the full fee upfront. If Mário performs well, they can exercise the buy option by the end of the 2026-27 season.
