Two children on Sunday (August 2, 2026) adopted a gharial, two Indian rock pythons, and a macaw under the Animal Adoption Programme of the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam.According to IGZP, Sahari Konisi and Aryan Konisi, children of Anil and Swetha, adopted a gharial for one year by contributing ₹25,000, two Indian rock pythons for one year with a contribution of ₹10,000, and a macaw for one month for ₹240.Curator G. Mangamma said the programme encourages individuals, families, educational institutions, organisations, and corporate bodies to support wildlife conservation and animal welfare.
