Three persons, who sustained burns in a cooking gas cylinder explosion at Chinna Ammangudi village in Thiruvonam police station limits in Thanjavur district recently, died at the Thanjavur Medical College and Hospital. The police gave the names of the victims as A. Palanivel, 40, V. Kasinathan, 38, and V. Vempaiyan, 45, - all from Chinna Ammangudi. Ten persons were injured in the blast. A cooking gas cylinder kept inside the thatched shed exploded after the shed caught fire in the early hours on July 30. A few locals who rushed out of their homes to douse the flames sustained burns in the cylinder blast.The injured were admitted to the Thanjavur Medical College and Hospital. Police sources said Palanivel died of injuries on Saturday evening while Kasinathan and Vempaiyan died on Sunday. The autopsy was conducted on the three bodies and was handed over to their relatives.
