Sixteen police personnel from Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga districts were among those who received various awards from Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in Chennai on July 31.At a ceremony held at Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore, Mr. Vijay presented the medals to personnel of Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Fire and Rescue Services, Prisons and Correctional Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence, and Forensic Sciences under various categories.The awards, which were divided into various categories included the President’s Police Medal, the Union Home Minister’s Medal, and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medal.The 16 personnel who received awards belonged to the Police, Fire and Rescue Services and Prisons Departments. While 12 personnel received State awards, including Anna Medal and Law and Order Intelligence Award, four received Central awards.G. Senthilkumar, Sub-Inspector of Police serving in Ramanathapuram district Special Branch, received L&O Intelligence award, the first time in the State, for his exemplary role in planning key events such as Muthuramalinga Thevar and Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran memorials in the district.
