The CPI on Saturday staged a demonstration in Thoothukudi asserting that there should be no compromise on Tamil Nadu’s river water rights.The protest, led by party’s Thoothukudi city secretary G. Dhanalakshmi, was held near Chidamabara Nagar bus stop.The protestors said the proposed construction of a dam at Mekadatu should not be permitted and urged the Karnataka government to respect and implement the final judgment of the Supreme Court.They also highlighted the severe drought affecting farmers in delta districts and called on the government to provide immediate drought relief.
