Karnataka Bank Ltd. has appointed Parthasarathi Periaswamy as an additional director (non-executive and independent) for a period of four years, with effect from July 29.The appointment is subject to the approval of the bank’s shareholders.A release here said Mr. Periaswamy is a seasoned technology and cybersecurity leader with over three decades of experience at the highest levels of India’s financial sector. As former chief information security officer and chief general manager (IT) at the Reserve Bank of India, he played a pivotal role in shaping national cybersecurity frameworks, modernising mission-critical infrastructure, and strengthening resilience across the banking ecosystem.He served as chief technology officer at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), where he directed IT infrastructure, trust services, and the National Threat Intelligence Platform (IB-CART).Beyond central banking, Mr. Periaswamy has advised leading private sector banks on cybersecurity governance, policy reviews, and crisis management. He was also a consultant to the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub, guiding projects on cybersecurity in the financial sector. Further, he was a board member of Indian Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS), an RBI subsidiary, between 2019 and 2021, where he oversaw technology governance and sector-wide IT initiatives, the release added.
