Karnataka Bank Ltd has appointed Parthasarathi Periaswamy as Additional Director (Non-Executive, Independent) of the bank for a period of four years, with effect from July 29, 2026. The appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders of the bank.Periaswamy is a technology and cybersecurity leader with over three decades of experience at the highest levels of India’s financial sector.A media statement said that as former Chief Information Security Officer and Chief General Manager (IT) at the Reserve Bank of India, he has played a pivotal role in shaping national cybersecurity frameworks, modernising mission critical infrastructure and strengthening resilience across the banking ecosystem.He has served as Chief Technology Officer at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology, where he directed IT infrastructure, trust services and the national threat intelligence platform. His leadership extended to convening the CISO Forum and organising national cyber drills, fostering collaboration and preparedness among banks.He was formerly a Consultant to the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub, guiding projects on cybersecurity in the financial sector. The statement said that he was a Board Member of Indian Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS), an RBI subsidiary, for 2019-21, where he had overseen technology governance and sector wide IT initiatives.Published on July 31, 2026
