LEGAZPI CITY — Deputy Majority Leader and Talino at Galing ng Pinoy party-list Rep. Jose “Bong” Teves Jr. is supporting President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to remove electricity system loss charges, saying consumers should no longer bear costs arising from power providers’ operational losses.
In an interview with the Inquirer on Thursday, Teves said he strongly supports the President’s order to scrap the system loss charge, arguing that consumers who faithfully pay their electricity bills should not be made to shoulder losses incurred by distribution utilities.
“I am very much in favor of removing the system loss charge. Consumers religiously pay for their electricity consumption, yet they are still being required to shoulder the losses of power providers,” Teves said.
The lawmaker said the issue has long been a concern in Catanduanes, where consumers continue to endure unstable electricity service while still paying system loss charges.
