An eyewitness has placed Ferrel Govender at the scene where Shailen Singh was killed in December 2024.
A senior employee of an Umhlanga restaurant told the Durban High Court that although he did not see Darren Govender at the scene where Shailen Singh was gunned down in Umhlanga at Meridian Park on December 29, 2024, he saw Darren’s older brother, Ferrel Govender, standing in front of Singh’s vehicle during the shooting.
The witness, who cannot be named, testified that he was in a staff meeting when he heard two gunshots.
“I saw Ferrel standing in front of a white bakkie. His BMW X5 was parked in the middle of the parking lot, between two parking bays. I was in shock and walked, or rather ran, towards the edge of the building, where I heard another seven or eight gunshots,” he told the court.
According to a State witness, the BMW X5 that Ferrel Govender was driving on the day he allegedly killed Shailen Singh parked between the two parking bays, while Singh's bakkie was parked on the left.
