CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — “Let us be the light in someone’s darkness,” an online abuse survivor told the participants of the five-day Multi-Disciplinary Team and Basic Internet Crimes Against Children (MDT-BICAC) Training held here that ended Friday, July 31.
Carel, not her real name, is a survivor of the Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (Osaec). Behind the clinical acronyms and staggering national statistics is a real child, a real family, and a deeply human story that demands to be heard.
“I share my story not for sympathy but for change. Hope is real and survivors can lead the way,” she told the audience.
