Minister for Natural Resources, Minerals and Mines T.K. Prabhu stated that certain reforms for quarrying gravel soil in Tamil Nadu are being introduced in the following week.Mr. Prabhu held a consultation meeting with officials regarding development projects at the Sivaganga District Collectorate, along with District Collector P. Akash, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Gupta, among others.Speaking at the meeting, he said: “Officials should forget their positions and authority and listen to the grievances of the people. People desire that honest action be taken on them without any expectations. Ever since assuming office, the government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has been doing just that. This is a government for the people. I have confidence that all officials in Sivaganga district will cooperate.”Speaking to the press later, he said: “Mr. Vijay has taken the historic decision and people also welcome the decision to ban the transport of minerals to other States.”“He will continue to fulfil the wishes of the people. We are making arrangements to sell several thousand tonnes of graphite accumulated in the Sivaganga graphite factory,” he informed.Speaking further, he noted that the government would be introducing certain reforms for quarrying gravel soil across Tamil Nadu in the following weeks.The obstacles faced by pottery workers in gathering soil will also be resolved, he observed.
