Annene Krouwkam-Claasen, 36, has been convicted after pleading guilty to 14 counts of theft involving nearly R6 million stolen from 14 deceased estates.
Annene Krouwkam-Claasen, 36, pleaded guilty to 14 counts of theft in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court sitting in Gqeberha, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed on Friday.
According to the NPA, Krouwkam-Claasen committed the offences between March 2021 and December 2023 while acting as a trust and estate administrator through her own firm.
She had been appointed as an agent, executor and trustee for various deceased estates, placing her in a position of trust over funds belonging to beneficiaries.
In her guilty plea, Krouwkam-Claasen admitted that she unlawfully transferred nearly R6 million from the bank accounts of 14 deceased estates into her personal bank account and the account of Ancoris Fiduciary Services (Pty) Ltd, a company of which she was the sole director.
