…visa refusals highest among six continents

United Kingdom (UK) visitor visa applicants from Africa recorded the highest refusal rate for that category among six continents in 2025, with 173,611 applications rejected despite the region accounting for the second-highest number of visa decisions.

Based on data from the UK Home Office visa outcomes data, more than one in every three applications from Africa ended in rejection.

Of the 521,431 visitor visa decisions involving African applicants during the year, 173,611 were refused, representing a refusal rate of 33.4 percent. Although 66.5 percent of applicants were issued visas, Africa recorded the lowest issue rate among the regions reviewed.
