The bodies of five Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members killed in joint US-Saudi airstrikes targeting Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq have been repatriated through the Mehran border crossing.

According to Iranian media reports, the operatives were killed during the July 29 airstrikes on positions held by Iran-aligned factions in Iraq’s Diyala Governorate. The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF / Hashd al-Shaabi) previously confirmed that at least 20 of its fighters were killed and 32 others were wounded in the strikes.

State-affiliated media identified the five IRGC members as Morteza Akbari, Ali-Asghar Astaneh, Abolfazl Motaghedi, Amir-Abbas Derham-Foroush, and Mohammad-Amin Rostami Jalilian. The first four were from Khomein and Kashan, while Rostami Jalilian was reported to be from Kermanshah Province.
