A special police team cracked a case of murder of 65-year-old C. Pappammal at Mummachireddipatti in Nangavaram police station limits in Karur district reported a couple of days ago by arresting the victim’s 26-year-old granddaughter M. Sugitha on Friday.
Acting on information, the special team arrested Sugitha who had been reported absconding following the murder. The Nangavaram police had launched an investigation into the murder on July 29.
Sugitha had come to her grandmother’s residence to take her academic certificates. Pappammal and her daughter Manjula refused to give the documents without the consent of Rasathi, Sugitha’s mother.
Sugitha picked a quarrel with Pappammal and attacked her with a screwdriver on her head and neck besides attacking Ms. Manjula. Pappammal died of injuries, the release said.
