Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday reaffirmed that parliamentary elections will be held in spring 2027, urging his ministers not to be distracted by the political calendar and to remain focused on delivering the government’s agenda.
“Do not fear the political timetable,” Mitsotakis told a cabinet meeting, stressing that there was sufficient time to complete projects across all ministries before voters head to the polls.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of deadly wildfires, with ministers observing a somber mood following the deaths of three firefighters.
Addressing concerns that a prolonged preelection period could slow government activity, Mitsotakis said the administration must continue implementing reforms and better communicate its achievements, particularly projects benefiting local communities.
