Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has again ruled out early elections, saying his government remains committed to completing its four-year term while accusing opposition parties of making promises they cannot afford to deliver.
Speaking to Open TV on Friday, Mitsotakis said his center-right government, which was reelected in 2023, had a mandate to carry out its program until the end of its term.
“We will not have elections in the autumn,” he said, adding that the government still had an extensive legislative and reform agenda.
Mitsotakis also rejected calls for broader pre-election spending, saying he would not “open the purse strings” or promise measures he knew could not be implemented.
The prime minister criticized opposition leaders Alexis Tsipras and Nikos Androulakis over their economic proposals, arguing they had not explained how they would finance them.
