Ongoing conflicts in the Middle East disrupting shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea are expected to have a minimal impact on petrochemical feedstock supplies for SCG Chemicals (SCGC), the petrochemical arm of Siam Cement Group.Chief executive and president Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud said the company has prepared by adjusting its strategies and strengthening risk management to withstand volatile global conditions.
SCGC has reduced its reliance on Middle Eastern raw materials, cutting the proportion from 50% to 30% of total feedstock, he noted.
"We implemented a feedstock strategy policy to diversify sourcing to other regions such as the US and Africa," said Mr Sakchai.
The company also increased operational efficiency, expanded sales of high value-added products and optimised inventory management.
