China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and National Energy Administration (NEA) have published their 15th Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development. Basically, this is what the country plans to do and achieve in terms of renewable energy development in the years 2026–2030. This is where the country sets four quantitative renewable energy targets for the nation, regarding: installed capacity, power generation, non-power applications, and supply security.
The country is going to be focusing on desert solar PV, solar power plants on wasteland areas in the north, and large-scale wind power. “It integrates PV desertification control, ecological restoration, and green power transmission, supporting the establishment of demonstration bases dedicated to 100% cross-provincial green power delivery,” PV Tech shares.
“Under the five-year deployment, seven major wind and solar bases—spanning Xinjiang, the Hexi Corridor, the Yellow River Bend, northern Hebei, and the Songliao Basin—will add no less than 370GW of new installed capacity during 2026–2030.”
