The Enugu State Government on Thursday inaugurated a three-man advisory panel of inquiry to investigate the crisis rocking Obeagu Ugwuaji Autonomous Community in Enugu South Council Area of the state.
The panel is chaired by Venatus Odo, the immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Enugu Branch, while Helen Onyia, is secretary, and Christian Obeagu, a professor, as a member.
The state government on Tuesday suspended the traditional ruler of the community, Christopher Nyia, over his alleged involvement in the lingering crisis.
Inaugurating the panel at the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs in Enugu, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Charles Egumgbe, said the committee was constituted with the approval of Governor Peter Mbah to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the crisis.
Mr Egumgbe said the panel was expected to determine the immediate and remote causes of the crisis, examine the role played by the suspended traditional ruler and any other persons connected with the breakdown of law and order.
