No casualties were reported. Egypt’s Prime Minister moved quickly to contain the political fallout, confirming that the country had secured alternative energy supplies sufficient to meet national demand.
What happened at Damietta
Maritime security firm Ambrey assessed the incident as a suspected drone attack, though Egyptian authorities have not issued an official confirmation of that assessment.
Damietta is one of Egypt’s principal LNG export terminals, sitting on the Mediterranean coast in the Nile Delta. This attack represents the first time a gas facility inside Egypt has been directly targeted during the current cycle of regional conflict.
