The Udupi Superintendent of Police (SP), Hariram Shankar, on Thursday suspended a Deputy Superintendent of Police, a Police Inspector, and another policeman attached to the Karkala police station after a Kannada news channel aired a sting operation showing the three personnel reportedly accepting a gift.Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Prasad, Police Inspector Sandeep and office staffer Shivanand were suspended on Thursday pending a disciplinary inquiry. In a statement, Mr. Shankar said the order was based on a preliminary inquiry by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Udupi.In the video telecast by the news channel, Sandeep is seen accepting a gift offered by an official who claimed to be a representative of an agency executing work related to the Varahi Irrigation Project.
