Two sub-inspectors were suspended on charges of corruption and mishandling of cases in Kadapa district.
G. Madhusudhan Reddy, Sub-Inspector of Pendlimarri police station was suspended for alleged dereliction of duty in a case of death. Sudha Subbaiah (46) was found dead in the land belonging to Bala Anki Reddy near Machanuru on March 29 this year. The police registered a case under section 194 of BNS (death due to unknown reason).
Though Subbaiah’s wife filed a police complaint expressing suspicion over his death, the Sub-Inspector reportedly continued to argue it as a case of death due to sunstroke. The post-mortem report, mentioning the cause of death as poisoning with organophosphate, was received way back in May this year, but no corrective action was learnt to have been taken.
With the victim’s father Sudha Narayana taking the issue to the notice of the Superintendent of Police earlier this month, the SP ordered an internal probe by Deputy Superintendent (Women’s PS) Balaswamy Reddy, which found him guilty of dereliction of duty.
Similarly, Hrushikesava Reddy, Sub-Inspector of Talla Proddatur PS in Kondapuram mandal was also placed under suspension in view of corruption charges. The SI had reportedly coerced the farmers to part with their lands to the company that had come forward to establish a solar power plant under his limits, and also threatened some of them to affix their signature.
