Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi and National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Advocate Andy Mothibi are expected to outline the government's plans to stabilise the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) following the resignation of its former head, Advocate Andrea Johnson.
The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development announced on Thursday that the media briefing, scheduled for 5pm, had been moved from the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) headquarters to GCIS Tshedimosetso House at 1030 Francis Baard Street in Pretoria.
According to the ministry, the briefing will focus on recent developments at IDAC and the remedial measures being implemented to ensure the anti-corruption unit continues to function effectively while the process of filling the leadership vacancy gets underway.
Officials are also expected to reaffirm the commitment of both the ministry and the NPA to maintaining the operational effectiveness and institutional stability of IDAC, while reinforcing public confidence in South Africa's efforts to combat corruption.
