The Tappachabutra police on Thursday arrested three persons for attempting to murder a woman during a violent attack triggered by a family property dispute in Daibagh.The accused were identified as Mohammed Dastagir Shareef alias Pappu (32), Mohd. Osman alias Addu (25), both labourers, and Mohd. Gulam Nabi Qureshi (44), a vegetable vendor. Police said all three have been remanded to judicial custody.According to the police, Dastagir Shareef had been embroiled in a long-standing property dispute and domestic discord with his sister-in-law, Shameem Begum alias Shameem Sulthana. He allegedly conspired with the two other accused to kill her.The incident took place on July 27 when the trio arrived at the victim’s house near Samosa Galli in Daibagh on a Honda Activa scooter and police said Gulam Nabi Qureshi was armed with a butcher knife. Dastagir Shareef and Gulam Nabi Qureshi forcibly entered the house and attacked the woman on her neck with the knife. When her husband, Mohd Azam Shareef, tried to intervene, he was allegedly restrained and assaulted, police said.Investigators said the woman managed to flee to a neighbouring building seeking help. However, the accused chased her and dragged her from the staircase before Dastagir Shareef stabbed her in the abdomen. The trio fled after local residents gathered at the scene.During the investigation, the police recovered the knife used in the attack and the scooter on which the accused travelled.
