A dispute that spiralled into a long-standing feud between two families and a murder landed four persons in jail, with a court in Hyderabad on Monday remanding the accused to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the murder case.The accused, Shaik Zahed alias Sohail, 28, along with three associates – Zeeshan Nawab alias Jaber, 30, Amer Nawab alias Laddu, 26, and 48-year-old Nafeez Sulthana – have allegedly murdered an electrician at Kumarwadi in Golconda on June 12. Golconda police arrested the four accused on June 13 and produced them before the court on Monday.The victim, Shaik Mahboob alias Masood Chandi, 26, an electrician, had married Rukshar Begum in January 2025, the police said, adding that the marriage was opposed by Rukshar’s brother, Zahed, leading to disputes between the two families.Police said tensions were further raised after the couple had a male child in December. Earlier this week, Zahed, along with family members, allegedly went to Mahboob’s residence, fought with him and took Rukshar away to their house. During the confrontation, Zahed allegedly threatened that he would not allow his sister to continue living with Mahboob.On June 12 at around 3 p.m., Zahed allegedly arrived at Mahboob’s house along with his associates armed with an iron barbell rod, a knife and wooden sticks. The accused allegedly barged into the house and attacked Mahboob. Zahed allegedly struck the victim on the head with the rod, while Jaber attacked him with a knife, according to the police.Laddu and Nafeez Sulthana allegedly assaulted him with wooden sticks. Mahboob collapsed during the attack and died at the scene.His father, Shaik Ismail, 68, an auto driver, who tried to intervene, also sustained injuries on his right hand and cheek, police said.Based on Ismail’s complaint, the Golconda police registered a case and launched an investigation. A special team led by the Detective Inspector of Golconda police station, under the supervision of Syed Fiaz, tracked down and arrested the accused.Police seized an iron barbell rod and a knife allegedly used in the murder.
