A 15-day bakery training programme for tribal women concluded in Hasanur on Thursday (July 30, 2026), with the initiative aimed at promoting skill development and sustainable livelihoods.The programme was organised by the State Forest Department, while the Sathyamangalam-based non-governmental organisation, Rights Education and Development Centre (READ), coordinated the training by mobilising participants, arranging resource persons and overseeing its implementation. The organisation has been working in 10 tribal villages in the Hasanur region over the past four years on education, livelihood and community development initiatives.Poomagal of Dreamy Designs Academy, Rangampalayam, imparted hands-on training in the preparation of cakes, breads, cookies, beverages and snacks. . Fifteen tribal women participated in the training. Following its completion, the NGO plans to establish a natural products outlet in Hasanur to provide employment and self-employment opportunities for the trained women, thereby improving their livelihoods, READ Director R.
