The eThekwini Municipality’s Human Settlements, Engineering and Transport Committee submitted a report on the progress made in implementing GO! Durban.
eThekwini councillors have slammed another GO! Durban Implementation progress report during a council meeting on Thursday.
The municipality’s Human Settlements, Engineering and Transport Committee submitted a report on the progress made in implementing the GO! Durban. The report includes progress on infrastructure delivery, operational readiness, business planning, stakeholder engagement, industry transition and institutional preparations required for the commencement of services.
Action SA Councillor Zwakele Mncwango called for the GO! Durban to be renamed Gone! Durban. He described the project as one of the most expensive in terms of planning and delayed implementation in the city. He said ratepayers can see empty stations and no buses in operation with no return for their investment.
“This report paves the way for further expenditure with no assurance that the problems will be resolved,” he said.
