Beyond the traditional giants and the clubs chasing continental football, there is an ambitious group looking to close the gap and establish themselves among the league’s more competitive sides.
Durban City, Polokwane City, Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United enter the 2026/27 campaign with different challenges, but a common objective — pushing towards the top half of the table. Interestingly, all four clubs begin the new season under new leadership, bringing fresh ideas, different philosophies and renewed expectations.
