The focus ahead of the new Betway Premiership season will inevitably centre around the title ambitions of Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, but the clubs at the opposite end of last season’s standings also have important stories to tell.

The bottom four from the previous campaign enter the new season in very different circumstances.

With two of those teams no longer in the top flight, promoted duo Milford FC and Kruger United now take their place among South Africa’s elite, while Marumo Gallants and Chippa United return with the opportunity to rewrite their recent fortunes.

Rather than carrying the burden of last season’s struggles, these four clubs begin a new chapter with fresh ambitions and the chance to establish themselves in the Betway Premiership.
