Brasília (AFP) – Brazil's former president Jair Bolsonaro on Wednesday denied authorizing the use of his image and voice for a deepfake video in which he endorses his son Flavio Bolsonaro's candidacy in October elections.

The Supreme Court had demanded an explanation about the appearance of an AI-clone of Jair Bolsonaro, who is barred from making public statements as he serves a 27-year sentence under house arrest for plotting a coup after losing Brazil's last election in 2022.
The deepfake video was screened as Flavio Bolsonaro officially launched his candidacy on Saturday.
