Bengaluru: Karnataka held discussions with senior leaders of Japanese durgmaker Takeda Pharmaceutical on expanding the company's Global Capability Centre (GCC) operations in Bengaluru.The discussions focused on expanding Takeda's GCC in Bengaluru and its role in digital transformation, research, product development and technology.The government also showcased Karnataka's biotechnology, medtech and GCC ecosystem, including collaboration opportunities with institutions such as C-CAMP and the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre, said IT/BT department in a statement. Takeda's Bengaluru Innovation Capability Center, the company's first in Asia, supports its global data, digital and technology organisation in areas including AI-driven drug discovery, digital health, software as a medical device, data science, and technology for research and manufacturing.The meeting also explored opportunities for collaboration between Takeda and Karnataka's research institutions, startups and innovation ecosystem in life sciences, biotechnology, digital health and AI.IT/BT department secretary Manjula N chaired the meeting and said Karnataka would continue to support Takeda's expansion in the state while strengthening collaboration in biotechnology, healthcare and digital technologies.The meeting was attended by IT/BT department director Avinash Menon Rajendran, officials from the department, the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC), and Takeda's India GCC.Takeda executives said Bengaluru's talent base and research ecosystem continue to support the company's operations.
